Jessica's Journey: Serving through Worship
Organized by: Jessica Cymbal
Cheesy title, I know, but bear with me. Many of you know of our journey as church planters. Steve and I have served in 6 church plants in our 16 years of marriage, and planted one of those churches ourselves. We are passionate about God and bringing His story and mission to any who will listen. Many of you know that music and arts are where I not only connect and receive from God, but where I have served in every church I have attended since I was young. He gives it to me and I give it back. Last week, I got a message from a dear friend offering me an opportunity I had to pray about! She invited to help lead worship for a group of missionary women who are on retreat. These women are from all over Europe and come together at these retreats to rest, reflect and receive from God. This year's retreat is called "Connecting Hearts" and it's being held in Greece! I will be partnering with my friend Sarah, who is currently a missionary in the UK with GEM (a missions organization), and we will be leading worship in all of the sessions as well as leading small group discussions and prayer times. As someone who has been through ministry burn out, I know how invaluable it is to have someone who understands to come alongside and pray and encourage you. That is what I'm going to Greece to do. This opportunity came quickly- I will leave November 2, 2016 and return November 10. They are a missions organization, and can't really cover my costs, so I need to raise $2000 to cover the cost of an expedited passport, round trip airfare to Athens, hotel, meals and transportation during the retreat. I will also be bringing a second bag filled with supplies for the retreat and special things for the missionaries from here in the States. This is a huge help and encouragement to them too! If you can help with any amount, big or small, it will be greatly appreciated!! If you can't help financially, your prayers are just as valuable- not only for me, but for these ladies who are traveling and taking time from their ministries to attend the retreat. Thanks for reading all this! I am thankful for loving friends and family who have supported me in even praying about this trip and I am excited to see what God is going to do!
