On March 12, I will join the Josh Anderson Foundation (JAF) in running in the Washington DC Rock & Roll Series to fund raise and bring awareness to the need for mental healthcare and teenage suicide prevention. This foundation was created after a childhood friend of mine, Josh Anderson, ended his life nearly 7 years ago.
Please help me support this cause to promote youth mental wellness, fight stigma and stop teen suicide by donating. Every dollar you give will help the JAF foundation bring mental health awareness programs into high schools where this kind of education is greatly needed.
Here are some facts about the current JAF programming this race supports:
* Stress Less, Laugh More Campaign - Provides resources which promote positive mental health and stress-relieving behaviors. It serves to educate, engage and aid students in learning how to proactively deal with stress and anxiety.
* Mental Health Awareness Week - This program aims to raise student, faculty and parent awareness about depression, anxiety and other mental health issues through daily activities and events such as speakers, PSAs, workshops, and games that promote healthy living.
* Yoga and Mindfullness - Bringing trained yoga and mindfulness instructors to introduce mind-body practices to students and staff.
* Speaker Series- Enlisting speakers to share their personal experiences with mental health to school communities.
