BENEFITING: ASIAN HOPE
EVENT DATE: Jun 01, 2012
Dear family and friends,
This time of the year is very exciting for me as I am FINALLY graduating from Nursing School (Woohoo!) and becoming a new nursing graduate! Throughout my university years, I have been blessed with the constant support and encouragement from my beloved family and friends. Thank you for all the wonderful meal invitations, home-cooked food, words of wisdom, encouragement, skype calls and just being my second family in Toronto. Through God's abundant blessings and love He has provided in my life, I hope that I can use this special day to honor Him through providing a home, education and future for children in Cambodia.
For my 23rd Birthday, my wish is to raise a minimum of $2000.00 to an organization called Asian Hope. Due to the devestating events of the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia in the late 1970's, which the educated and skilled population of Cambodia were killed, this event left Cambodia with a broken education and 50% of the population to be under 21 years old. Therefore, Asian Hope serves as an organization that provides a nurturing Christian home and education to the children of Cambodia.
During High School, I had the wonderful opportunity to travel to Cambodia for 2 weeks and spend time with and minister to students, children and teachers that were a part of the Asian Hope orphanage and schools. This experience has made me realize that providing these children with the adequate resources and emotional support that they need will provide them with a hopeful and potential future! The teachers, orphanage parents, children and students in Cambodia have taught me the value of friendship, family and serving Christ as a Christian community. I wish I could walk you through my journey in Cambodia, unfortunately, all my photos are in Hong Kong! As of today, Asian Hope continues to serve the growing needs of the Cambodian population through Christian education.
You will be helping in several ways:
1. Homes for At-risk Children: House of Hope boy's home & House of Faith girl's home
2. Asian Hope Schools: KC International School (Preschool to Kindergarden), Logos International School (Preschool to Grade 12) and Asian Hope International School (Christian bilingual school: Khmer and English from Preschool to Grade 3, goal is to expand one grade each year!)
3. Higher Education and Learning Program: Sending children formerly of the children's home to universities in 3 different countries.
4. Village Development Program: Providing education support services to children and schools impoverished villages and program of health and safety education for the community and local church support.
Any contribution is truely appreciated! Even if you are not in the best position to give, tell a friend or pray for Asian Hope! OR if you are just interested to hear more about my experience in Cambodia, come talk to me!
Thank you for being a part of this journey with me!
Special Thanks to Jonathan Wu for sharing with me this wonderful idea and helping me make this all happen!
