Did you know that 1 in 6 Americans don't know where their next meal will come from, and 16 million of those are children? That's a lot of empty bellies attending school, trying to build foundations that will pave the way for their future. Our children are the future of our world, but how will they be able to grow without adequate nutrition? Did you also know that hunger is the world's most solvable problem? People all over the world work hard to make food insecurity a thing of the past, but it can't be done without some help. According to the Monmouth and Ocean County Food Bank, 1 out of every 10 county residents receive food from the Food Bank. A $1 donation to the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean County provides 3 meals to families in need. Many people participate in food drives around the holidays, but what many forget is that these families need food year round.
The RUN10FEED10 supports PROJECT FEED, which works to raise money and provide meals to those who are unable to afford it in your area, including food banks like the one in our own county.
I'll be running in the RUN10FEED10 this September to help make a difference, and you can help too! For every $50 in donations, I'll volunteer 1 hour at my own local food bank. Any and all donations are tremendously appreciated - not only by myself, but by the hungry families and children they'll be supporting.
Working together to raise money, organizations like PROJECT FEED and all of the food banks throughout the country can stop food insecurity, for good.
