Jevon's Semester at Sea
Organized by: Jevon Howell
Over the course of 102 days I and several hundred other students will be circumvating the globe visiting 15 cities in 11 different countries. On our floating campus the “World Odyssey” we will embark on a life-changing journey where we will have first hand exposure to world issues and cultures.
In Semester at Sea “hands on learning” takes on a whole new meaning. Students will have the unique opportunity to experience the subjects and causes they read and debate about in the classroom. From building homes with Habitat for Humanity to studying at Japanese temples, the level of immursement is something I find truly captivating about Semester at Sea.
<-------But don’t just take my word for it, check out this video!
While the takeaways from this trip are virtually endless, it comes at a price that I know I wont be able to sum together all by myself. I’ve already raised over $4000 through scholarships and personal funds but with an October 16 deadline I am doing everything I can to save and acquire the funds necessary for the trip.
Here is a brief overview of my expenses:
Airfare, Visas, Vaccinations $3000
FIU Study Abroad Fee $175
Personal Travel Expenses $3000
Now I understand some may be wondering based on the costs is it all worth it? And trust me I’ve pondered that same question many times but I always end up reaching the same conclusion. This is an opportunity of a lifetime.
Life is too short to cower in the face of insurmountable odds, and I have no intention of letting up. Any and all donations are accepted no matter how small. Below are a set of reward levels I hope you’ll find amusing so please knock yourself out as I hope to share the adventure with every one of my donors.
If you believe in my cause, that I may walk this thousand mile journey. I’m not asking you to walk the whole way with me, but to find it in your heart to help me make that first step!
