Every year hundreds of children find themselves living in homes that are in turmoil. They don't have a voice but need someone to be a guide and buffer. Children in abusive homes don't do well in school causing many to fall far behind their peers and if left without intervention many eventually drop out. In most cases their mothers are stuck, unable to afford reasonable and safe living arrangements on their own. This feeling of despair hangs over the entire household as mom tries to navigate through the turmoil. Being able to offer living arrangements not in a shelter environment gives both Jewel' and mom hope for a brighter future. FSFW is committed to assisting mom with finding affordable, safe housing while at the same time providing much needed career and personal counseling and coaching. In addition care is given to 'Jewel' to discover a nonjudgmental way through the arts to express their concerns and help get them back on track. Money raised will assist in paying rent, utilities and providing assistance with food, clothing and household items to make their new safe place a home. It will also assist Mom with actively participating in a six month program to help her be self-sufficient by learning skills including money management and improved child-rearing skills.
