Mr. and Mrs. P moved into their home in Hillcrest Height in 1986. They grew up in DC and were in the same class in elementary school. After losing contact after graduating, they reconnected and got married, raising 3 children together. Mr. P worked as a supervisor at a printing company and Mrs. P was a schoolteacher. Once their children were grown, Mr. and Mrs. P moved to Maryland and purchased their first home. They live in their home with one of their daughters and a granddaughter, who both have autism. They love their neighborhood; it’s quiet but in a great location. Now that they are in their 80s and on a fixed income, they are having trouble keeping up with repairs.
YACHAD will be working with the family, volunteers and trades people to address safety and health issues, including:
- fixing roof leaks, repairing porch roof & eaves
- repairing ceiling damage
- mold remediation
- mending broken door locks
- repairing loose rusted outside railings
- replacing rotted decking
- addressing electrical & plumbing issues
- patching holes, cracks in walls & ceilings
- painting the home
- replacing loose broken kitchen tiles
Funding is needed to cover supplies, materials and outside professional contractors.
