The famous poet Robert Frost said, "My object in living is to unite my avocation and my vocation as my two eyes make one in sight. I have committed myself to two years as a JFA missionary. My role is to work with churches, schools, and other groups to make presentations, plan and coordinate JFA training and participate in JFA outreach events across the country. The mission of Justice For All (JFA) is to train thousands to make abortion unthinkable for millions, one person at a time. My passion is coaching and mentoring youth.
Justice for All (JFA), a non-profit, pro-life organization based in Wichita, Kansas, have asked me to become their first full-time staff member in Arizona. I would like to tell you a little more about JFA and ask for your support.
JFA's mission is to train thousands to make abortion unthinkable for millions, one person at a time. Through JFA training, pro-life volunteers become active advocates, turning the abortion debate into a heart-changing dialogue in a spirit of "gentleness and respect" (1 Peter 3:15). Those trained volunteers then train others to do the same.
In April of 2010, I was wrestling with the questions, What is your life's purpose? I wrote these words in response: "My purpose is talking to teens about abortion."
As I wrote those words, they shook me to my very core. I can't do that, I remember thinking. I'd have to talk about my abortions, and I CAN'T share that! I had goose bumps as I considered that my life's purpose was to share my vulnerable heart with others.
God began opening doors for me to share my regretful decisions to take the lives of my first two children. One of those doors was opened when I was invited to speak at a local high school where I met David Lee, the Director of JFA; He invited me to join their training seminar that weekend. I wasn't sure that I agreed with their method, but I was open to considering it, so I attended the training.
During that training, I fully understood for the first time that my abortion (taken so lightly by me and so many others) had taken the life of a child. I was amazed as the JFA staff taught us how to reach out with love and compassion to those who have been involved in abortion. I realized the value of what JFA was teaching and I immediately volunteered to work with them in Arizona for three days!
I have since participated in four additional JFA mission trips. Each one has taught me how important this work truly is. I've even met Christians who believed abortion was wrong, but were unwilling to "force their beliefs on others." I demonstrated to one such woman that we could turn the debate into a heart-changing dialogue. After the conversation she said to me, "Thank You. You've really opened my eyes."
The JFA position is an answer to my prayers. My avocation, my passion, is now my vocation. I have committed myself to two years as a JFA missionary. My role is to work with churches, schools, and other groups to make presentations, plan and coordinate JFA training and participate in JFA outreach events across the country.
Do you desperately want to help people see that abortion hurts everyone involved? God has called me to be your hands, your feet, and your voice. Will you enable me to serve you in this way by making a monthly commitment or one time donation to my support?
My goal is to have raised my missionary support by September 30th, 2012.
