BENEFITING: COMMITTEE AGAINST ANTI ASIAN VIOLEN CE

As Jews organizing for racial and economic justice in NYC, we are excited to raise funds – and battle it off on the dance floor – for CAAAV, an inspiring partner in movements for justice!
Every dollar we raise will go toward supporting CAAAV’s ability to build the leadership of low-income immigrant and refugee Asian communities to fight for institutional change towards racial, gender, and economic justice.
For the past two years, JFREJ has worked alongside CAAAV in the Communities United for Police Reform coalition to challenge racist policing. We have been inspired by CAAAV’s example of solidarity with the #blacklivesmatter movement. For example, when some in the Asian community claimed that it was unfair that NYPD officer Peter Liang was indicted for the killing of Akai Gurley when white police officers went free, CAAAV put out a powerful statement reminding people that “Officer Liang is part of a system that perpetuates systemic violence on Black communities and needs to be held accountable.”
CAAAV also does critical work to protect Chinatown’s tenants from unscrupulous developers and landlords; fight for language access for immigrant residents in public housing; and prepare the next generation of youth leaders to create social change.
Please chip in to help us reach our goal and support CAAAV's powerful work!
