BENEFITING: American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
EVENT DATE: Jun 28, 2014
This walk is very important to me because I am a special education teacher and counselor, and many of my students have suffered severe depression almost leading to suicide. I sadly lost a close friend to suicide, and almost lost a second. would love to participate in the walk to bring awareness and prevention to communities.

The Out of the Darkness Overnight is a fundraising walk of 16-18 miles throughout the night, designed to raise funds and make a bold statement to bring the issue of suicide out into the light. The Overnight is organized by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), the leading national not-for-profit organization exclusively dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide through research, education and advocacy, and to reaching out to people with mental disorders and those impacted by suicide. For more information, visit www.afsp.org.
Each Walker agrees to raise at least $1,000. Net proceeds benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to fund research, education, survivor and awareness programs - both to prevent suicide and to assist those affected by suicide.
