Most of you probably know my story but for those who don't..... My name is Jillian Scalfani and I'm a two-time survivor of Cervical Cancer. Did you know high-risk HPV causes Cervical Cancer along with many others including, vaginal, vulvar, anal, penile, oral, head and neck? While we have annual pap smears to help detect abnormalities, some women still "fall through the cracks" such as myself. I always like to share how I've never missed a pap smear, had a abnormal pap or even tested positive for HPV. This is how sneaky the virus can truly be, the virus can lie dormant for decades. Science has designed a vaccine to protect young boys and girls starting at the ages of 11-12 before any exposure and because the immune system is at it's strongest, Gardasil 9 will protect us from the nine strains that may cause cellular changes.
My reason for this fundraiser is very personal to me, being a two-time Cervivor knowing there's NO CURE for recurrent Cervical Cancer. I made a promise to myself and every other woman who may fall victim to this disease to keep fighting and advocating to help eradicate Cervical Cancer. In January I was given the opportunity to attend Cervivor School in South Carolina and it was an experience I will never forget. We met with Gyno-Oncologists, Radiation specialists, Palliative Care Doctors, we learned the importance of nutrition and cancer, also the latest research involving Cervical Cancer. I also met other women who were affected by HPV and Cervical Cancer from all across the U.S. As a Cervivor Advocate, our mission is to inform and educate women, men, boys and girls on how to prevent and protect themselves from this disease. We're hoping our hard work and dedication to further Cervical Cancer research and make us the last generation to be affected by this. Science has the tools and the preventative measures to potentially eradicate high-risk strains of HPV through pap smears and Gardasil 9. My goal is to take my story and message to the Nation's Capital, with Cervivor, to help other women.
If you could, I'm kindly asking for each donor to donate $10.00 and to please keep sharing this on your social media of choice. My fundraising goal will help a Cervivor Advocate, such as myself receive a travel scholarship to Washington, DC. All proceeds go to Cervivor and our constant fight to educate, empower and advocate for women all over the world. I can't thank my support system enough for all of your continuing love and support, please help us eradicate Cervical Cancer for once and for all!
