BENEFITING: The Mercy Maternity House, Inc.
We are now approaching the sixth year mark of our adoption journey. The long, discouraging process has left us passionate about the orphan crisis, most specifically about interceding in the lives of families to PREVENT orphans. We are involved with a ministry in Kenya called Mercy House that does exactly that: they rescue young pregnant girls from poverty who would otherwise be forced to give up their babies, teaching them life skills and a trade, and loving them like Jesus.
Mercy House recently announced a fundraiser called Miles for Mercy in which they are putting together a group of runners from all over the country to gather sponsors and run races to benefit Mercy House. Needless to say my response was: Sign. Me. Up. And one week later, my 9 year old race junkie was begging to join, too. I will be running the Holiday Valley Happy Half Marathon in Ellicottville, NY on May 7, 2016. Janelle will be running the David Hutton Memorial 5K in Emporium, PA on August 20, 2016.
Mercy House is battling on the front lines of the orphan crisis and Janelle and I are psyched to be able to run for them. Please consider sponsorng us!
