Jim has strong entrepreneurial spirit coupled with a broad based background in social and human services as well as in the development of several business ventures in various industries which include: logistics, transportation, emergency medical service delivery, agricultural production, and international socio-economic development projects.
Presently active as an independent consultant, he works well as a team member or as an independent agent. Jim loves people, animals, and the outdoors. Today, he and his wife Ajen, promote health and wellness in their community through their business; A.Meliora LLC delivering various forms of experiential education services. Jim's specialty is equine assisted self-learning process programs (EASLP). Helping to improve the health and welfare of fellow veterans is a passionate concern for Jim using his horses in a therapeutic modality. He has a desire to help all veterans and their families work through the challenges unique to war experiences through programs such as The Coterie, (for combat veterans of any war).
His motivating desire is to be united, in harmony, and fruitfully productive with his wife, his family, and his community as an essential key for him to be of service to the human race.
Experience: Having more than thirty years of experience in the Emergency Services field, several years working intermittently with troubled youth and developmentally challenged citizens, along with a collection of work experiences from his overseas travel, work experience from cattle and chicken ranches to work in international affairs at the United Nations in New York and UNESCO in Paris. Jim’s overview of the world and people has grown to embrace the diversity of humankind. Jim has worked and lived with his family on the Hopi Nation in Northern Arizona, as well as worked and lived in the Fiji Islands.
Educationally: Jim has earned a B.S. in Sociology with a focus on sustainable societies. Jim is currently certified and practicing as an equine specialist. He possesses other studies in forestry, environmental sciences, and health services.
Enjoyment: Travel anywhere, backpacking and fly fishing in the wilderness, relaxing in hot springs, spending time with family and friends, reading books in hot tubs with his lovely wife.
Jim seeks to collaborate with others in efforts to educate and improve actions on environmental issues locally and beyond. Jim's current passion is producing biochar for his own garden enrichment as well as sharing that knowledge with others through workshops.
Jim works to promote the mission of the DayStar Ranch, Inc.
DayStar Ranch, a 501 (c)(3) organization, supports equine assisted activities by providing funding, training/support, and research/evaluation to affiliate ranches. We do this because we recognize the powerful benefits to come from relationships with horses and humans.
