BENEFITING: Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake
EVENT DATE: Oct 05, 2010
HOURS PLEDGED: 8
So where does your hard earned money go? Never fear, it will be going right back into the community, via Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake. Vacant housing is an ENORMOUS problem in Baltimore City; there are over 30,000 vacant houses. Rent is high and many families can't afford to buy a home on the wage they are earning. We are building new or rehabbing existing houses in Baltimore City and Anne Arundel County for deserving families that enter our homeownership program.
Becoming a homeowner helps to build wealth, improve health, positively impact children, and strengthen the community. The city gets a new tax paying citizen and crime goes down. Old neighborhoods gain new vigor.
Your donation supports the build of 20 homes - 10 homes on Clay Street, Annpolis and 10 homes on Jefferson Street, East Baltimore. Funding provides the needed resources to support thousands of volunteers, build more affordable homes, and transform entire communities in the continuing revitalization of neighborhoods in Baltimore City and Annapolis.
So essentially: money=homes=families in homes=new communities=happy people
I wasn't a math major, but that makes sense to me.
