On January 7, 2014 Jimmy was walking from the Floral Park LIRR train station just a few blocks from his home. Suddenly, Jimmy was hit by a mini van traveling at a very fast speed. Jimmy was given little hope when he arrived at the hospital due to his severe life threatening injuries. Jimmy sustained a severe head injury, massive internal bleeding, shattered pelvis, broken leg and a fractured collar bone. He was in a coma for 42 days. While in the hospital he came down with a life threatening infection , blood clot and pneumonia. Since this horrific accident Jimmy has beat many odds but is suffering from a Traumatic Brain Injury and continues to fight each day to get his life back. Jimmy is currently at a sub-acute rehabilitation facility at St. Johnland located in Kings Park, Long Island. For anyone that knows Jimmy, certainly knows that he is extremely devoted to his family and friends. Jimmy is married to his wife Jennifer for 15 years and the very proud Dad to their son Thomas (10 yrs old) and their daughter Katherine (7 yrs old). Jimmy has enjoyed coaching his kid's teams, helping them with their homework and giving them the well rounded childhood he thoroughly enjoys. Jimmy retired from the NYPD as a Sergeant in 2011 after 21 years. Jimmy started his career in Midtown North, he worked in the 42nd Pct, 19th Pct and One Police Plaza for the Deputy Commissioner of Operations. Upon his retirement, he started a second career working as a Security Director in NYC. Everything Jimmy has done has been for the benefit of his family and now it is his family who is desperate to help him get his life back.Any contribution that you are willing to donate to help Jimmy get the long term care and rehabilitation he needs is deeply appreciated. This will be a very long road to recovery and his family is very heartbroken. We appreciate your love, support and prayers for them in their time of need.
