BENEFITING: EB Research Partnership
EVENT DATE: Sep 25, 2016
Meet my friend Ermias. He’s a bright, happy, fun-loving 4-year-old kid from Seattle … and he needs our help. He is one of some 30,000 children across the U.S. who has EB – Epidermolysis Bullosa – a debilitating disorder of connective tissue which causes painful skin blisters after any kind of friction or pressure.
Children with this disease are sometimes known as “Butterfly children” as their skin is as fragile as a butterfly’s wing. Just being picked up by a parent, wearing a shirt or walking can cause damage – so their daily life is filled with blisters and pain. Yet despite that, little Ermias inspires us all with his big heart and his tireless spirit.
To help the EB Research Partnership - EBRP (a 501(c) 3 non-profit - https://ebresearch.org/) - to find a cure for this dreadful disorder afflicting Ermias and other kids like him who can’t run without pain, I’m running in Ermias’ honor at the Brooksie Way Half Marathon on Sept. 25, 2016 in Rochester, Michigan.
On behalf of these kids, I am looking for some people to sponsor my 13.1-mile run to raise funds for the EBRP non-profit. With your support, some day kids like Ermias will be able to experience the joys of everyday life without pain.
I’m also running as a show of solidarity and encouragement for Ermias’ dad, Aaron Blank (the CEO of our PRGN partner in Seattle) who detests running but has agreed to run the 2016 San Jose Rock ‘N Roll Half Marathon in October, in hopes of raising $10,000 for EBRP.
Now matching Aaron's target would be quite a challenge, but we all know that the people of the Detroit PR and automotive communities are always at their best when faced with challenges.
I hope you can join me by sharing my post with your friends and colleagues, learning more about EB, and perhaps even sponsoring my run at any donation level – every little bit will help!
On behalf of Ermias and the thousands of other kids just like him, thank you in advance for your consideration!
