BENEFITING: Washington Scholarship Fund Inc
In honor of his 79th birthday, Jim Kelly (Sr.) has decided to give back to a local organization, that has given so much not only to the Kelly family, but the entire Washington, CT community. Jim's goal is to run 79 miles in the month of May (possibly more) and we are asking friends, family and supporters to pledge any amount per mile in support of Jim and the Washington Scholarship Fund. (Read below for donation options.)
The Washington Scholarship Fund awards scholarships annually to seniors and graduates from Shepaug Valley High School and other secondary schools who have been residents of Washington, Washington Depot, Marbledale and New Preston for a minimum of two years, for their college educations. The awards are given to recipients based on financial need. Prior to 2013, the Scholarship Fund was operated as the Washington Citizens' Scholarship Foundation, an affiliate of Scholarship America® and its Dollars for Scholars program. Through the Washington Citizens' Scholarship Foundation, almost two million dollars was awarded to our local students.
Gifts in honor of Jim's run can be made here and will go directly to the Washington Fund. If you have already communicated your pledge to Lauren, she will calculate at the end of the month and be in touch with your total. New pledges can be made by emailing Lauren or the fundraiser address - firstname.lastname@example.org.
