JJ and Lydie on The Tour Of Hope 2014
Organized by: lydie and JJ
EVENT DATE Nov 01, 2014
The Tour of Hope (TTOH) is an international non-profit initiative of like-minded cycling enthusiasts united by an aspiration to convert their passion for riding into practical support for the less privileged, primarily in the areas of education and health.
For the fourth year in a row, TTOH will work closely with the World Vision Foundation of Thailand to support its efforts to provide a better life and prospects for some less privileged people in Thailand.
The 2014 PROJECT :
- build another library and community centre
- donate more bicycles
This year’s library/community centre project will be north of Chiang Mai, at the rural Baan Mae Taman school. The library and community centre will benefit a community of more than 150 children and many more adults.
The bicycles we aim to give to different schools along our way will allow young children to attend school regularly. One bicycle is usually used by two children. The number of bicycles we can give will depend on the amount of money we can raise. We expect it to be in the same range as in previous years.
TTOH 2014 will take place from Nov 1 to Nov 8 and riders will cycle for over 750 km from Udon Thani, to Chiang Mai, Please see the map for an idea of the route. As in previous years, each cyclist will be paying for his or her own expenses for TTOH 2014, while canvassing for donations from family and friends. All such private donations will go straight, without any deduction, towards the library and bicycle projects identified for 2014.
