BENEFITING: ADAMS STREET FOUNDATION INC
Americans love to rail against the lowly state of public education in
our country, but it's an argument that usually concludes with a shrug
and a "what can you do?" Well, here's a school that figured it out.
I've been working for The Urban Assembly School for Law & Justice for about five years, and I currently serve on the Junior Board. It's an extraordinary place that takes in underperforming kids from some of the poorest neighborhoods in Brooklyn, puts them through an innovative and demanding curriculum, graduates the vast majority, and sends almost all of those graduates to college. It's astonishingly effective.
This year, to commemorate SLJ's 10th anniversary, we are launching the Next 1,000 Scholars campaign. This will help us raise the funds to send, that's right, 1,000 kids through SLJ and on to great things. So if you're the type to give donations during the holiday season, or if you're interested in helping me raise more than everyone else (as for me, bragging rights are as good a Christmas gift as anything), please contribute. It can be as little or as much as you're able to give. Five bucks on up.
Help me raise $1,500, and that's a full ride for a kid for a whole year. It's a pittance, considering the good the school can do for that kid.

Thanks so much for your support. It means the world.
