The Jimmy McDaniels Foundation is a national nonprofit organization committed to supporting higher educational opportunities for minority instrumental musicians and raising awareness of the unselfish contributions to the history of American music. Founded in the memory of musician James “Jimmy” McDaniels, the mission of The Jimmy McDaniels Foundation is to encourage minority instrumental musicians who reside in Indianapolis, Indiana and Birmingham, Alabama and to provide educational grants that will inspire recipients to enrich their communities and music profession.
The foundation’s first step was to establish a scholarship at Butler University in Indianapolis,Indiana. This scholarship will benefit instrumental students studying in the School of Music in the Jordan College of Fine Arts. A similar effort is underway at Miles College in Fairfield,Alabama for students enrolled in The Miles College Music Program.
