BENEFITING: Patricia A Dinunzio Ovarian Cancer Fund
EVENT DATE: May 31, 2016
My aunt and godmother, Pat DiNunzio, gained her wings on June 18th, 2014. Ovarian cancer may have consumed her body, but never her spirit or zest for life. Her legacy lives on through the Patricia A. DiNunzio Ovarian Cancer Fund.
Founded to support women with gynecologic cancers, the fund supports patient education programs focused on nutrition, exercise, and holistic cancer care. In 2015, the Patricia A. DiNunzio Nursing Scholarship Program was established and two nurses were awarded with funding to continue their education and pursue their goals of receiving advanced nursing degrees.
Instead of gifts, I am asking friends and family to help me raise $1,500 for my birthday to benefit her fund. An estimated one woman in 71 will develop ovarian cancer during her lifetime. The American Cancer Society estimates that there will be over 22,000 new cases of ovarian cancer diagnosed this year and that more than 15,000 women will die from ovarian cancer this year.
Your contribution will not only help support nurses who care for these women, but it will make a lasting impact for women personally battling ovarian cancer within our community.
