The John Muir Trail for the Boy Scouts of America
The John Muir Trail, the gem of the Sierra Nevada, is 221 miles of extreme beauty, originating in Yosemite Valley and climaxing on Mt. Whitney, the tallest mountain in the lower 48.
Guess what else is priceless in the Sierras. Give up? It's young boys and young girls who are brought each year into the mountains to discover what they can do on their own with just a backpack and bunch of friends. Nothing shapes a young man or young woman like carrying all his/her supplies, depending on one's peers, and roughing it for a week.
Please join me in supporting one of the last century's greatest youth organizations, the Boy Scouts of America. I will be hiking in mid-September 2013 as a solo hiker (friends not crazy enough!), and attempt to complete the entire trail in 12 days self-supported. My goal is to raise $5,000 for the Mt. Diablo Silverado Council Friends of Scouting Fund, where all funds will be specifically targeted for lower income Scouts and their Scouting needs.
Please help make Scouting available to everyone.
