"The person who created this page is probably preparing something riveting to post about everything they're doing to give back...."
"Riveting", wow, I wish that was the case. This is my first crowd funding campaign, and to be honest, it's a little awkward for me to catalog how I’ve given back.
I could tell you I volunteered Habitat for Humanity, Rebuild San Francisco and The Parks Department, was a New Hope volunteer tutor, or that I worked on this or that social campaign and it would all be true. Lord knows, I've used this info on things like resumes and cover letters, but honestly, what does it really tell you?
Helping is not an event; it is a daily way of life that applies to friends, family or strangers. You help where you can, you give shelter, you pick people up off the floor, try to comfort, you strategize and find solutions, protect and most importantly, you try to see people through.
The younger me spent an awful lot of time trying to see through people, but now my focus is just simply trying to see people through.
