Jock and Cathy Pool
I’ve been a nurse for over 18 years, starting my career in critical care and now working in my community as a school nurse. In 1997, I lost my father shortly after he retired at the age of 62 from a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm. Eleven years later, my sister died at the age of 39 from an aortic dissection.
I am excited with the opportunity to run with Team Ritter and that my husband and best friend, Jock will be running by my side. We hope our efforts will educate others about aortic disease, and raise money for research regarding aortic health. We do not want anyone to go through the devastation of losing a loved one like our family has gone through. Jock and my main focus and goal are to help prevent deaths caused from a ruptured or dissected aorta. I went into nursing knowing that I would care for those who are ill, but my focus has always been on promotion of health and wellness. Raising money and awareness for the John Ritter Foundation is a way for us to do something to honor my father and sister’s memory which can make a difference in saving lives.
