In 2006, my sister Jayne and I started walking as The Sole Sisters in Boston, in honor of our sister Jude who had just been diagnosed, and our mother who was (and still is) a survivor. This year, the 10th anniversary of our first walk, we walk in memory of Jude who lost her battle in May of last year. A Sole Sisters team has walked every year for each of the last 10, raising in excess of $150,000 to fight this insidious disease. Jude has always been our inspiration. This year is no exception.
Race for the Cure Greater Hartford started in 1994 and has remained a staple in the Greater Hartford community ever since. Through funds raised by our Race participants, Komen Connecticut has contributed to funding more than $23 million in breast cancer research, local education, screening and treatment. Every dollar raised by Race for the Cure makes a lasting impact in the fight against breast cancer.
Connecticut has the HIGHEST incidence of breast cancer in the U.S. with over 3,000 Connecticut women diagnosed annually. Komen Connecticut needs YOU as a part of our crusade to end breast cancer forever. Your fundraising efforts will help save the lives of Connecticut women.
For all the women and men who will be affected, for those who are already battling, and for those, like Jude, who lost the fight, please give. This. Must. Stop.
More treatment. More research. More survivors. A cure.
With love and thanks,
