Climb for Hope - 2017 Goals
February 15, 2017
BENEFITING: CLIMB FOR HOPE INC
ORGANIZER: CLIMB FOR HOPE INC
THE STORY:
I'm joining 12 amazing women to climb Mt. Adams in order to raise money and awareness for breast cancer and MS research at Johns Hopkins.
Jodi's Climb for Hope's mission is to find the viable treatment for breast cancer and MS. They've raised and donated over $750,000 to Johns Hopkins University for a vaccine under development, with the money going specificially to Dr. Leisha Emens. Not only does the vaccine address some of the most aggressive and lethal forms of breast cancer, but the research is also expected to derive advances for many forms of cancer in the future, like my mother’s lung cancer, potentially saving thousands of lives.
I have gold and blue running through my soul as a WVU Mountaineer alumna for undergrad and grad school. However, I've never been able to truly call myself a Mountaineer. It will be an honor to join Jennifer and Andrew Buerger on this expedition.
In July 2016, Jodi's Climb for Hope is hosting its first ever all women's climb to Mount Adams in Washington. Mt. Adams South Side climb allows climbers to experience the lofty elevation of Washington's second highest peak, at 12,276 ft. in a remote wilderness, with a 6700' elevation gain. An amazing group of women will come together to battle Mount Adams to show these diseases who's boss.
This is a very special climb since it will be Jennifer Buerger's final attempt to summit. After being diagnosed with MS years ago, she's been unable to do so. However, the amazing guides from our outfitters, Rare Earth Adventures, have found a way for her to be pulled up the mountain and walk the final 100 yards to summit.
Help us bring hope to others and raise awareness for these amazing causes!
Every little bit helps.
Thanks so much for reading & I encourage your to watch the attached video from the 2011 JCFH!
