You all may or may not know, I have been battling tongue cancer for the past 36 months. I would have never imagined the pain and agony that one must go through to simply fight for one's right to live during cancer. I am happy to say that I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel. Not only am I beating cancer, but cancer has helped me defeat an even worse disease, one that I call "assumptive arrogance." As a young man who would seldom get sick, the day when I was diagnosed with cancer, was total shock and awe. Cancer has enforced the notion that we are all at God's will. We must not think we are immune to certain things. God has a plan for us, and we must be ready to follow and live that plan.

During my bout with cancer, my son, Sean, began his education at the University of Southern California. I will be the first to admit that I did drink the USC "kool-aid." My ever growing interaction with USC has lead me to hearing about a project called, "A City Divided." "A City Divided" is a made for TV documentary that focuses on the rivalry between USC and its cross town foe, UCLA.

Whether you're a sports fan or not, you've probably heard about the intense rivalry between USC and UCLA. This year the rivalry is going to be more interesting. Rivals United For a Kure is an organization that is trying to raise $2MM for under-funded cancer research. $1MM will be donated to each school for cancer research. The centerpiece of the program is "A City Divided." I implore you to see a preview of it and information about the organization at "A City Divided" hopes to bring recognition to the greatest rivalry in college sports and how both schools plan on putting that rivalry to good use, beating cancer.

I've been working with this organization for about a year together with my doctor, Doctor Chhetri. We all know someone who has had cancer or survived it, me being one of them. I'm trying to make a difference to raise money for an organization that is near and dear to my heart. Thank you in advance for your consideration to donate. My goal is to raise at least $250,000 for Rivals United for a Kure.
