Joelle's Story In December of 2015 my wife and I discovered discoloration in the right eye of our then 4 year old daughter Joelle. We thought that maybe she rubbed something in it. After noticing that she was having problem with normal light, and redness in the eye, we took her to her Pediatrician. She suggested we go to the Children's hospital in DC. After hours of testing including a catscan, they did not know what it was. They suggested we go to a Retina Specialist in Va. The specialist diagnosed that she had an extremely rare eye cancer called "retinoblastoma". He insisted that her eye be removed. We were devasted at this unexpected crisis. We decided to get her the best treatment at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Families from all over the world and the US, traveled here because of their reputation. Joelle underwent surgery and her eye was removed. After the surgery, Joelle has received 6 months of chemo therapy all in Philadelphia.. She will also have to get MRI.s several times starting in November 2016 , and in 3 month intervals in 2017-2018. She will also have to get regular check ups some weekly, and some monthly. In addition we are required to have a prostetic eye installed. Since we have a one income family, and my wife and I have 8 children including Joelle, we are experiencing extreme financial hardship. My insurance company is paying their share, however , I am left to pay deductibles , co pays, travel, lodging , & food expenses from my limited resources. As a result of my giving Joelle's needs priority, my regular bills/ expenses are not being paid. I am delinquent on every bill except my mortgage Please help!!
