Joel's fight to be healthy
Organized by: Kari Speer
I adore this man his name is Joel and when he was 22 he removed the asbestos from the smoke stacks in Cleveland so that he could get money to move out to the land of sunshine. After having visited Cleveland I completely understand. Seriously though, he is ten years older than me and at the time the extent of the dangers that exposure to asbestos causes had not been publicized yet. He remembers "popping off my mask to have a cigarette as asbestos rained down around me." Stupid I know but keep in mind that this was before the public was fully aware of mesothelioma and all of that. Joel is an amazing soul and everywhere he goes he is the center of attention and always has everyone in the room laughing at his jokes and somewhat exaggerated stories (as he says any story worth telling is worth embellishing). If laughter is the best medicine then Joel is a Dr extraordinaire to all that he comes in contact with. I am asking that you help him to have the opportunity to continue to make the world laugh (or at least his little corner of the world). The past couple of years Joel has been having some breathing issues and as most men do he wrote it off as his childhood asthma making a reappearance and didnt go to the Dr like i wanted him to. Recently the issues became worse and unfortunately some spots were found on his lungs. He needs to eat better, get better health insurance, and possibly undergo a new treatment that has actually shown some positive results for lung cancer patients called the cyber knife....... All of these things cost lots of money, and unfortunately it is money that we simply do not have. He would be beside himself if he knew that I was asking for help for him, but I already lost one soulmate at the age of twenty one and I am certainly not going to lose another one if i an at all help it. I appreciate you taking the time to read this and hope that you can find it in your heart to give a little not only to help Joel but to make the world a better place through the smiles and laughter he provides.
