A Hero Abroad: Joe Sheehan
Organized by: Corey Thiele
Update: Joe has contacted us and would like to express that he is unbelievably grateful for everyone who has donated so far. He could not believe it. He also wanted to say that any extra money donated past what he needs to replace his stolen items will be donated to ALS in the Heartland.
Joe Sheehan is an engineering student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and is studying abroad this summer through a UNL program based in Oxford, England. While traveling in Dublin, he witnessed a man drowning in a river. Joe did not hesitate to use his lifeguard training to rescue the man and save his life. Before getting in the river, Joe had taken his personal belongings like his cell phone and wallet out of his pocket and placed them on the ground. Unbelievably, while he was in the river, his belongings were stolen.
Joe is a very well respected and involved individual in his community and on his campus at home. He is an Eagle Scout, is active in multiple clubs at UNL, and is very involved in his fraternity, Phi Delta Theta. The least we can do for Joe is help him replace his stolen belongings, which included his phone, wallet, all money inside his wallet, and multiple train passes all totaling around $500. Please strongly consider donating to Joe's cause.
