Aurum Preparatory Academy is a tuition-free public middle school opening in the fall of 2018 in deep east East Oakland. In this community, 90% of children qualify for free or reduced lunch, less than 19.1% of students meet or exceed English proficiency in English, and less than 13.7% of students meet or exceed proficiency in Math. Aurum Prep's mission is to not only remediate these significant gaps for disadvantaged students, but to provide a rigorous 21st century education that will create the next generation of college scholars and moral leaders.
It is my privilege to serve on the board of Aurum Preparatory Academy and run the 2017 San Francisco Marathon to raise $3,000 so that we can provide every student with a computer for coding/design-thinking classes in our opening year. Your donation ensures that I will suffer through 26.2 miles of hill-riddled pain, and more importantly, that our students will all have computers in their classrooms! Thank you!
