John Kane Memorial Scholarship Fund
Organized by: Brian Kane
After the passing of our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend John Kane, we were overwhelmed with offers of support for his memory. Sheila and her kids sat down and thought what would he really want us to do? We could send the money to the American Cancer Society, Make a Wish Foundation or the Red Cross (all great charities) but would we really see any effect? Would this remind of our Husband , Father and Friend? Not really...
So Sheila (being the amazing women that she is,) thought "lets collect the money put it in a trust and help kids his kids choose" That immediately spurred the discussion of sports, hockey, soccer, running, tennis, cheering, watching the grand kids playing the sports they loved. John and Sheila's children are still all actively involved in the sports communities where they live and she and John were amazing supporters of their children (and grand children ) growing up. John and Sheila provided a wonderful, supportive life style for their children to enjoy the sports they loved growing up! Sheila decided that John would want the donations going to kids that his kids (Lynn, Julie, Brian and Melissa) work with or teams they support to allow children that don't have the opportunity his kids did, a chance to do some of the things that were a huge part of our family. Than we can see the progress and happiness of these children we support and that will allow us to remember John Kane our Husband, Father, Friend and Grandfather for many years to come.
Your donation to this trust fund will be spent on kids that need assistance allowing them to play sports, boy scouts, cheer club, play hockey, equipment they may need, what ever it is, what ever they need, that's where this money will go.
Sheila also spun this idea off as a way to bring her family together twice a year to discuss the people her kids have nominated to be a recipient of a donation. A death in the family shouldn't be the reason family gets to see each other after years of being apart . It makes you realize the importance of your family and that distance is just that, Distance. See we knew Sheila was an amazing, warm hearted, wonderful women and she nailed it on the head with this idea.
She can keep the legacy of her husband alive and get her family together as it should be, twice a year. So know that your memorial donation to John Kane's memory has meaning , purpose and that his family with provide for another child that is less fortunate.
Thank you for your contribution to Johns legacy.
