In advance, I want to thank you for visiting my fundraising page and for considering a contribution towards Metrowest Marine Corps and ONE FUND Boston for Boston's 2014 Marathon effort. This year's Marathon is going to be a huge event. Over 25,000 runners will run and thousands will line the streets. Both National and International attention will be turned to this event following the aftermath of the 2013 Boston Marathon. Many are going to take part beyond viewing the race and by contributing to worthy causes. Your contribution is one that is not taken likely, since there are so many charitable organizations involved with this year's Marathon thus your dollar is one that could go in several directions. I hope you can help these two organizations and those individuals and families that are in need this year.

The tragic events of last year's marathon is still fresh on my mind. I was watching with friends right in the middle of where the two bombs went off near the finish line. My friends and I were cheering on the runners and were waiting for a friend to take the final turn from Hereford Street onto Boylston Street towards the finish line.

It was a split second that my life would forever change. I heard what sounded like a bomb/canon go off followed by a high cloud of smoke to my left and then seconds later, another bomb/canon to my right with more smoke. Runners were running away from the finish line and away from Boylston Street and lines of cops that were wearing flourescent yellow vests were instead running where the runners should have been. It was mass chaos and no one knew what was happening. All I could think to myself was when another bomb was going to go off and I was in a state of shock. It was an awful sight and all I could think about was trying to safely escape with all my friends.

A few weeks had passed and I had a thought, that I am sure so many others did, as well...I have to run the Boston Marathon next year. It's strange to think that this is where my mind went in the wake of such sorrow and devastation, but it seemed to be the only way that I could wrap my brain around all that had happened. Which brings me to where I am now, training for the 2014 Boston Marathon and fundraising on behalf of the Metrowest Marine Corps and ONE FUND Boston. I will also run for all the runners who couldn't finish that day, for all those who might never get to run again, and for all those who just aren't there yet and will be someday.

Please consider a donation. Any amount you can spare will be greatly appreciated.
