BENEFITING: Water For People
Update: Amazing. All of you helped me reach my $1,500, then $2,000 goal, and then the final $3,000 goal! Thank you to everyone that helped me reach these goals-- you are all so awesome! Thank you! These are the last few hours of the overall campaign. If you haven't gotten involved you still have time until midnight tonight. Please consider donating or passing this along. We only have a few hundred dollars to reach the overall $2 million goal-- can you help push us over the edge?
Water For People is also about toilets. So I've decided to make sanitation the focus on my Time Well Spent team this year.
Water For People's approach to toilets is unique. The Sanitation as a Business program is a market system development approach to sanitation intended to explore different ways of enabling greater use of sanitation in developing countries. In the past, Water For People assisted household access to sanitation by directly subsidizing purchase of sanitation products and services, but this did not result in ownership of toilets by households, so many toilets went unused. Under sanitation as a business, however, Water For People is moving away from the traditional subsidy-driven approach and seeks to make the private sector a main driver for improving access to sanitation and achieving sustainable and desirable solutions for households.
