THE STORY:

On June 20, 2015, our dear Johnny Duarte Botello (my cousin) was involved in a head-on collision with a logging truck on the way to work on the Prince of Wales Island, Alaska..possibly subsequent to a cerebral event. The cerebral event is unconfirmed due to his condition not being stable enough to perform the tests necessary. He aspirated while being intubated and this has caused breathing complications. He is on a ventilator We for sure know that he has a brain injury, compound fracture to the left femur, jaw fracture and various other scrapes and abrasions. Right now he is in a medically induced coma until the swelling in his brain can decrease enough for them to perform tests that will tell us the extent of the injuries prior to and after the accident. It is incredibly hard too see our great strapping Johnny hooked up to all these machines fighting for his life. This page is to support the Cecilia Botello & John Bean family with whatever needs arise as they were displaced from their home in Alaska to be at Johnny's side for the duration of his treatment at Harborview; the Northwest's regional trauma center. Friends, family and loved ones thank you for your prayers and support thus far! Please don't stop, Johnny is a fighter and it's working! Those of you that know Johnny, know what an incredibly intelligent, hard working, hilarious and compassionate soul he is. He truly has a unique sense of consideration towards others. He was an accomplished athlete in high school and valedictorian of his graduating class of 2014. He was offered a scholarship, but instead chose to spend his savings to purchase land on the island he grew up on where his folks reside. He built a log cabin at the age of 18 and was hired on full time at a carpentry job. Johnny turns 19 next Sunday. If you choose to donate, THANK YOU! Your love and prayers are more important than any monetary donation.
