ORGANIZER: JOHN WAYNE CANCER FOUNDATION
Cancer has had a profound impact on my life. I lost my mom to ovarian cancer in 2008 and it was one of the hardest and most life changing experiences I have been through.
My mom was my biggest supporter when it came to running and came to every race possible. She could be found shouting my full name from the bleachers and lovingly embarrassing me. She was there to support me every step of the way. She was there when I was 13 and I was absolutely awful. She encouraged me to push harder and become rhe best I could, even driving me all the way to Dallas for a running camp that would change my entire outlook on running and help me excel. There was no one more proud when I earned a college scholarship for running. Running became a bond that she and I shared. It's for this reason I will always run.
What better way to honor her memory than to race in honor of her and countless others in my life that have been affected by cancer. So, I decided to really step out of my comfort zone and not only run, but run a race full of obstacles. When someone is diagnosed with cancer that is exactly what they are faced with: obstacles. So this May I will be running a 10-12 mile obstacle mud run with goal to raise as much money as I can for those affected by cancer. I hope that all of you will consider making a donation, no matter how large or small, in honor of my mom and countless others who have fought, are fighting, and will fight against cancer.
Thanks so much for taking the time to read this and for considering making a donation!
