As most of you know, I have a sickness. It's called marathonitis! I've completed dozens of races over the last couple of years not only for fun but also to put myself to the test. This year to make this hobby of mine more beneficial to not only myself but for many others, I would like to raise money for The John Wayne Cancer Foundation.
I'm racing in honor of John Knutsen, my grandfather. A couple of years after I was born, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. In addition to the prostate cancer, this past September we discovered two masses of lung cancer that were past the point of considering surgery on. All my life he was the typical Norwegian Viking warrior always willing to put up the fight no matter how painful it was. Although he was able to make it over and through many battles with cancer, he passed away on March 29th 2017.
In memory of my grandfather John, I will be running the New England Tough Mudder as part of Team John Wayne – The John Wayne Cancer Foundation's (JWCF) athletic fundraising program. I have committed to raising $1,000 in support of JWCF's mission to bring courage, strength and grit to the fight against cancer. JWCF funds novel and innovative programs that improve cancer patients’ outcomes and save lives through research, education, awareness and support. Help me save the lives of mothers & fathers, brothers & sisters, children, friends, and people I have not even met.
Please help me reach my goals: to cross the finish line in June, but most importantly to cross the finish line in finding a cure! Any donation you can contribute is greatly appreciated and will make a difference in lives of patients and their families! Your donation is 100% tax deductible.
