BENEFITING: National AMBUCS
My 9 yr old son Jon has been fighting a big battle. Not only is he fighting Medulloblastoma (brain cancer) but he is also fighting the devastating side effects from his brain surgery. Last year in July, Jon underwent brain surgery to remove a golf ball size tumor from his cerebellum that was determined to be brain cancer. Twenty four hours after surgery he was diagnosed with a rare condition called Posterior Fossa Syndrome. This syndrome essentially robbed Jon of his speech, mobility, coordination, and balance completely. His entire right side was impaired along with his sight due to double vision. Jon has fought through 30 rounds of radiation of the entire brain and spine and is currently at the tail end of his 9 cycles (54 weeks) of chemotherapy. Through hard work and preserverance in speech, occupational and physical therapy Jon has regained some of those abilities back. He still has a long road of recovery to be able to run, jump, play sports and be independent. He hopes to soon attend school, play with friends and enjoy all the hobbies he once loved. One hobby he enjoyed and truly misses was riding his bumblebee yellow bicycle. He worked extra hard and was proud at all the tricks he had learned on his bike. Now his bike sits in the garage and is nothing more than a painful memory of whom Jon once was and is no more. In physical therapy Jon absolutely LOVES riding the AmTryke therapeutic tricycle. He works his muscles hard to re-learn how to pedal and steer the tryke. He knows its one step closer to getting on his very own bike soon. Due to Jon requiring daily care, dad has been off of work for almost a year to care for Jon while he continues treatment. I, his mom, work to maintain our five member household and all expenses. We would LOVE to get Jon his very own tryke but cannot aford to do so. Jon has been placed on the wish list for a tryke which could take up to two years to receive. We are going to take a leap of faith and see if we could raise the $ ourselves with the help of our amazing community who continue to show us their love & support. It would be out of this world amazing if I had the honor to present such an amazing gift to Jon on behalf of all his supporters. He has truly shown to be an inspiration to many around him & deserves this. Our faith in the Lord has carried us to where we are today and we know so much more is in store for Jon. We truly believe he will be fully restored and soon will be running, jumping and laughing better than ever! God Bless!
**We would love to pay the blessing forward and bless a child in need with the tryke once Jon has met his needs**
