Stuff About Me:

Cancer has a personal impact on many people, if not all people.  I am honored to run for this amazing organization that has a message that hits home with me.  Until December of 2016, when I heard of melanoma and other forms of skin cancer I did not think it was as deadly or serve as other types of cancer.  I just thought that when a person is diagnosed with melanoma or skin cancer that person just went to the doctor, had the area removed, and was cured and had nothing to worry about.

That assumption of mine all changed in December of 2016.  In December 2016, my sister-in-law (pictured above with my brother at the Des Moines, Iowa zoo) was diagnosis with melanoma.  She was a person who never tanned in tanning bed, always covered up in the sun, and use proper precautions while outside.  A few weeks later, my brother and she were told that what state the cancer was.  While the two of them begin to make plans on what to do and determine where she would receive her treatment, her stage level was raised.  The cancer had spread to her lymph nodes in her leg.  She is currently fighting this terrible disease and on the road to defeat it.

I am running the Boston Marathon with Impact Melanoma for my sister-in-law and everyone like her who is fighting cancer.  She, like many others in this world, are fighting for her life and I want to do my part for them and help raise awareness for melanoma and honor her though this race.  Melanoma is a scary disease.  One day you may think you are fine and then your life can dramatically change before your eyes.  I want to honor those individuals who get up every day who maybe suffering, in pain, and afraid and to support them against their fight against cancer.

I appreciate all the support that you are willing to give to this great cause.  Words will never fully be able to express how greatful I am for your support and your donation will be with me as I run in Boston.
