BENEFITING: SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA CHILDRENS CHORAL ASSOCIATION
Joseph joined the Southern California Children's Chorus in kindergarten and has loved it ever since. He has performed with the chorus at churches, retirement homes, country clubs, a 5-K run at Angel Stadium, and a presidential library, but this summer he will be onstage at Carnegie Hall. Not bad for an 11-year-old. Samuel was a preschooler when Joseph began in kinder chorus. We knew he would be joining the chorus when we noticed that he, unlike most of the other younger siblings, sat still and paid attention at all rehearsals and concerts. He was riveted. Even at the end of 2-hour concerts, when it was past his bedtime, the kid was still hanging in there. He joined in first grade. Both boys won the Director's Award in their first grade year. In the 2016/2017 season, Joseph will be in his seventh year in SCCC and will enter the advanced chorus, while Samuel will be joining the intermediate chorus in his fourth year. The boys love their weekly chorus rehearsals with their friends and amazing chorus directors, as well as the concerts. Neither has ever missed a rehearsal. Not once. Even on days when they don't feel great or have a lot of homework, they have always wanted to go to chorus. Each year, SCCC has hosted a miniature golf event that served as their largest annual fundraiser to help keep this amazing program going strong. Beginning this year, they've switched to an online donation option via Crowd Rise. Along with our annual tuition, these donations help SCCC rent space at Orange Coast College for weekly rehearsals, pay for sheet music, concert attire, etc. Any size donation is much appreciated and is tax deductible. Please consider a donation to help us keep these piano playing choristers off the streets.
