Gateway Military Academy provides a safe haven for boys ages 12-17 years of age. The 15-month program includes on-site schooling in a classroom setting, working ranch and farm, individual counseling, family counseling, competitive team sports, leadership skills, spiritual emphasis and a hands-on outreach to less fortunate people in the community and abroad all combine to turn troubled boys into respectful and caring young men.
On October 6, 2014, My Wife Melissa and I made the hardest decision of our lives. Through prayer and faith in God we decided to enrolled our son Joseph into Gateway. We made this decision because Joseph was an out-of-control 15 year old teenager. Melissa and I were afraid to do nothing, yet we were frustrated at our lack of options. We lived in fear of where Joseph's choices may take him, and we watched with dismay in Joseph's lack of interest in school and too much interest in his inappropriate personal behavior. We lived on pins and needles, wondering what will happen next. The challenge at hand is to turn our son back to making responsible choices and restoring a healthy, trusting relationship with the family. Melissa and I took a leap of faith by making our decision by not knowing how we were going to be able to afford $1,800.00 a month tuition. We did have the support of close family members, friends, and of our church. With that assistance we were able to complete the enrollment process and Joseph was admitted into the program.
