Josh's Medical Mission to Honduras
Organized by: Joshua Feriante
EVENT DATE Mar 21, 2015
My name is Josh and I am a medical student at Lincoln Memorial University Debusk College of Osteopathic Medicine. I am part of the local Student National Medical Association chapter that has been involved in creating and maintaining a sustainable pharmacy for underserved communities that do not have ready access to medicines.
This year, I will be traveling to Honduras with several physicians and a dentist to spend spring break serving rural communities outside Tegucigalpa. The goal of this trip is to provide sustainable and meaningful service to people who are in need of basic healthcare and medicine due to their remote location. Part of the trip will be bringing additional medications to the pharmacy and holding a medical clinic on the site for several days to provide basic medical services and supplies (e.g. blood pressure, eye screenings, dental hygiene items, etc.) to local families and school children. We will also be tour the communities' closest hospital in Choluteca and provide service to improve the facility.
I am excited to be a part of this project that has already made a big difference for people who are in great need of a sustainable way to improve access to essential healthcare needs. Your donation will help make this trip possible for me to help in this effort.
