With just nine days till the Hartford Marathon I wanted to thank all my donors to Team CT Children's. I am feeling great. I just completed my final long run of 8 mile just under my proposed marathon pace of 8:45 minutes per mile. This last weekend I completed the Vermont 50, a 50 mile mountain bike race thru the hills and woods of Ascutney, Vermont. It was a true adventure with high speed turns, huge climbs and tight single track. It took me 8 hours and I was exhausted. My final race for the season will be the Daisy Trick or Trot in late October. So again thanks for your support to Team CT Children's and me.

Stuff About Me:

Why am I writing to you asking for your support?   I am raising funds as part of Team Connecticut Children running in the Hartford Marathon.

I believe in the mission of Connecticut Children’s and want to share my enthusiasm and hope you choose to support me with a contribution.   As a Physician Assistant in the Emergency Department of Connecticut Children’s I work with a talented, dedicated, highly educated group of people committed to the task of holding the line against illness, injury and most of all fear and despair.   And this is why I choose to ask for your help because everyone can identify with the anguish and unknown of a sick child.  I am blessed to be a father of three wonderful children, but it was with help of the fine medical professionals at Connecticut Children's that we got Jonah treatment for epilepsy.   When I walk into a room to see a new patient in the ED I carry with me the heavy heart of father, husband, and practitioner having known the fear.

A political, cultural and financial tempest have created increasing challenges for our department and institution.  But despite these challenges we continue to hold the line resolute in our mission and on task.

I believe the training and the running of a marathon hold some comparison to these beliefs.  For me running is so many things, but most of all, it makes me feel alive and for that I am thankful.  So please join me with a pledge if you’ve known the fear of the human condition but also the thrill of you’re body alive.
