BENEFITING: Save the Children
After researching Zika Virus for my Language Arts class, I decided that I wanted to do something to help people in poor countries who are at risk from this disease. I was especially alarmed to hear about microcephaly, the terrible birth defect that can happen if pregnant women get infected. Since there is no cure for Zika so far, the best we can do is educate people on how to prevent themselves from being infected. In searching for a group that does this kind of work, I came across "Save The Children." They do all kinds of great humanitarian work to help children in need across the world. One of their current causes is Zika prevention and education in Central and South America. This "Children's Zika Relief Fund" works to educate pregnant women about how the virus is spread, provide support for affected families, reduce mosquito breeding grounds, and improve the sanitation systems. I believe this is a worthy cause that needs more attention and funds! Please help out and donate today--even the littlest bit counts.
