Holding a 5 day workshop in the hair & barbering industries for 75 youth in Kingston Jamaica. These youth cannot afford proper schooling nor the tools to begin a career, so we are meeting this need. We have partnered with a government program (HEART) to provide hands on training, business management and strategy to their students. These workshops will be taught by experts in their field volunteering their time to provide top training and education.
We build on current skills while sparking interest in the trade industry. Using trade industry experts, we promote self-sustainability through hands on motivational workshops. Each youth will recieve a complete tool kit to learn and begin a career from and a graduation certificate to use on their resume and for job placement.
• Youth unemployment rate is 38% - more than twice the national rate.
• 18% of pregnancies occur amongst teenagers, increasing the high school dropout rate.
• This will be our second year working with the youth of HEART in Jamaica
