Journey to the World Youth Day 2016
Organized by: Ferly Mangilit
Warm greeting of peace! My name is Ferly D.S. Mangilit residing at Bagong Silang Caloocan City. I am working part time for 3 years now as a Retreat and Recollection Facilitator in Bukal ng Tipan Maryhill, Taytay Rizal under the management of the CICM Priests and Missionaries. At the same time, I am a Youth Minister for 13 years and currently heading the Pastoral Formation Team of the Youth Ministry which is focusing more in the formation need of each member and young leaders to become an effective future leader of the Church. I am also part of the Formation Team of my Parish (Ang Muling Pagkabuhay ng Ating Panginoon Parish) which respond the formation needs of the parishioners and of each ministries. In response to Pope Francis’ invitation to the youth of today, this coming July 18 to 31, I will be joining the World Youth Day event in Krakow, Poland under the delegation of Fondacio Philippines. Fondacio Christian for the world is an international movement based on a Christian community. It was founded 40 years ago in France, in the spirit of the second Vatican Council and the dynamics of openness to the world. Today, we are present in more than 20 countries and 4 continents in various contexts and particularly in several countries where Christians are minority. What is my motivation in joining the World Youth Day? WYD for me is an oasis. An oasis which can fill the dryness within me, a place where can freshen up my spirit, a place of comfort, no fear but only love and acceptance, a place where I can be myself freely without any hesitations and reservations, a place where the One who created me calls me to deepen my relationship with him and to be re-rooted again into my mission and to my religion. Through my discernment, God helped me to realize one big factor in my own reality. Today, I am facing and standing in front of a crossroads. There are numbers of choices and options to decide which path I should take and yet God is telling me to slow down, to take a deep breath, to discern, to listen to his voice, to be reminded that He as the Father who comforts me in all my troubles (2 cor. 1:3-4) and above of everything is to pamper myself with his everlasting love. I believe that the World Youth Day would help me to: • have a deeper relationship with the one who first love me, God. • become an instrument of God who can inspire more young people especially in my own community in Bagong Silang and in my present work in Bukal ng Tipan. • witness God touching and moving million hearts to unite, and heal and restore broken people. I will not just be participant to the event but will be part of an evangelization project that will animate, testify and witness our faith to other young people coming from the different countries who will be attending the World Youth Day. I’m looking forward to your positive response to this letter. Thank you and may God bless you.
