BENEFITING: JOURNEY CHURCH
My name is Jeff Payne. I am the Director of Connections at Journey Church in Summerville, SC. My heart for the past decade has been helping hurting people find a healing Savior through personal counseling. I graduated from Liberty University with a Masters in Marriage and Family and have a dream to start a Christian counseling ministry that does far more than wait for people to call for help. Why?
COUNSELING HELPS BUT ISN'T THE ANSWER!
Strange to read on a counseling center fund raising website eh? But it's true! Counseling is always a reaction to events that have brought hurt into the lives of those seeking help. Counseling is NEVER proactive in nature so it offers nothing to turn the tide of a society that most often, through poor choices and lack of real education, have hurts that are self inflicted. Counseling only helps after the hurt happens.
God has a better plan and has called us to be a critical part of the solution.
To turn the tide in our society, we must get proactive about how we prepare people to deal with a dark and hurting world. Counselors are needed for sure, but that cannot be the only response the church offers a hurting community. We have to go on the offensive.
To that end, we are creating a non-profit Christian Counseling Center as an extension of the Journey Church outreach to the community surrounding Summerville, SC. Our goal is to offer professional, biblically based, sound counseling with a donation only fee structure for our services. We will not just offer personal and family therapy, premarital and marital counseling, but also addiction recovery, Life Coaching and financial coaching. In the coming months, we will be adding a mentoring program where individuals can participate in a program to obtain their GED, learn basic computer skills, build a resume and learn interviewing skills.
We want to be a part of an proactive solution not a reactive response. Our bottom line commitment is this: We will turn noone away, period. Whether they can donate thousands or offer pennies, we will turn noone away. To do that, we need to have resources to draw from to sustain the center financially.
To get there, we need your help! Our church simply does not have the budget to make this happen. Would you consider financially supporting the creation of the Journey Counseling Center? Your donation will go towards staffing, training material, administrative support, insurance and other requirements for us to launch as well as create available funds for us to use when people are unable to give for services they receive.
Thank you so much for prayerfully considering support us? Whether it is a one time gift or a monthly commitment, anything you decide would be greatfully received!
