An Underpass Called Home
HELPING THOSE IN NEED TO LEAD PRODUCTIVE LIVES
Disability, poverty and homelessness slowly rob a person of self-esteem and self - worth. It’s a slow process. It doesn’t happen overnight. Maybe it starts when you become disabled and you can't find work.
Maybe it starts when you are a child and you sense that your parents are doing little with their lives and maybe that is what you consider to be normal.
Maybe it’s when you can’t get a job and you apply for welfare and the caseworker helps you fill out your application and you realize there is nothing better for you than assistance. You convince yourself that you are worthless!
Maybe it’s when you become homeless because of your lack of skills. The homeless life is a subtle whirlpool that sucks you into a lifestyle community of others like you and the others begin to reinforce your hopelessness. They show you how to dumpster dive for food or cans you can sell.
Then without being fully aware of it, your life is spent looking for a soup kitchen and then a place to sleep. Day after day, you face the same routine. You are now in a whirlpool dragging you down and down. There is no escape. The only companions now, are anxiety, hopelessness and the sad realization that you are a ghost in a world that pays no attention to you.
Desert Ministries mission is created to destroy this whirlpool in an individual’s life! We accomplish this through providing them with a Christian based life preserver called Christ coupled with helping them with their basic needs and an opportunity to receive job training for jobs that pay a living wage.
How do we accomplish this massive task?
1. To provide job training to those who are disabled or homeless and enrolled in our program which will enable them to get better paying jobs and a ladder up from the abyss of homelessness.
2. To minister to the basic, spiritual and physical needs of homeless and low income individuals and families. This includes rental assistance, utility assistance, food and clothing.
The old adage of “How do you eat an elephant, one bite at a time.” The elephant is the global homelessness problem. We know no one person or organization can solve that massive a problem. We can, and will, do our share in our community with your help both spiritual and financial. We’re asking for your prayers and financial aid to help us accomplish the task in front of us.
Contributions in any amount are always welcome, but for contributions of 150 USD, a commemorative card containing 1 gram of the purest gold known to man, 999.9 pure, 24 karat, currency grade gold unavailable to the consumer in all cases but here.
With the five thousand year history of gold’s increasing value, the cost of your contribution will someday become zero.
One final benefit to contributing to our cause is the tax deductibility feature. (IRS 501C3 approved status) Therefore all contributions made in the US and Canada will enjoy a tax deductibility feature on US and Canadian tax returns. The deductibility may apply to other countries, but that fact must be determined by the donor.
Thank you in advance for your loving donations and please keep the homeless of this world in your prayers, for someday you too could be down on your luck. (Statistics tell us over 50% of all Americans are one paycheck away from poverty) All contributions small or large will be blessed with a special prayer in honor of your generous gift.
We need your help. Our goal is $54,000 to pay the tuition expense of the disabled and homeless students taking our training. No donation is too small. If you can't participate financially, please post/share this link with your friends, family and any organization/Facebook, social media page you can think of.
