BENEFITING: RIPPLES OF HOPE INC
In 2004, we got on a plane with our mom and dad. We were going to South Africa (Jonah was 9 months old and Mikayla was 2 1/2 years old). We stayed almost 2 years. This summer, over 8 years later, we are hoping to fly back there. We are super excited to be part of a Ripples of Hope Service Trip. With them, we will be able to visit, read to and play with kids who live in an orphanage, paint classrooms in a school and do service in a township. The same township we visited many times when we were really little and helping our parents start City Year in South Africa. We want to help make things better where we lived then and where kids still live today.
OUR GOAL IS TO RAISE $3000 by May 31, 2013 for Ripples of Hope, to help pay for the service materials and for us to go. We will be doing other work to raise money and saving our allowance too.
JONAH (9 years old) - It would mean so much to me to go because when I was there I felt so good because I saw wonderful things and met wonderful people. I want to help other kids so much in so many ways. I would like to help and build many communities and make sure that people can have books to read and a great school to go to.
MIKAYLA (10 years old) - I have so many memories of my time in South Africa and I would love to make new ones. Also I would love to go because helping kids is a really good experience for my heart and for the people around me. Helping communities become stronger is important to me because everyone and every family deserves to live in a healthy and safe place.
Together we will be keeping a journal of our trip and want to share it when we get back with other kids and families who have not been able to go to South Africa.
Thank you for helping us meet our goal! Jonah & Mikayla
