TAILS OF COURAGE's Fundraiser:

Joyride Fundraiser

TAILS OF COURAGE's Photo

BENEFITING: TAILS OF COURAGE

EVENT DATE: May 21, 2016

THE STORY:

Darien's JoyRide Cycling Studio and Dynamic Athletics will team up to hold an outdoor circuit style fundraising class to benefit Tails of Courage. JoyRide instructor, Alison Vitolo and Dynamic Athletics head coach, Bill Gallagher will run mini 30 minute circuit style workouts, as well as cycle classes on JoyRide bikes from 11:15 a.m. to 1p.m. on Saturday, May 21. Participants can engage in this “Barry’s Bootcamp” style workout for half an hour or more. The minimum requested donation is $40 per person, which will be collected on site. Tails of Courage (TOC) is a national animal rescue organization with a no-kill shelter in Connecticut. Founded in 2009 by a 9/11 survivor, TOC is one of the few animal rescues in the State of Connecticut that allows (and even encourages) children under the age of 18 to volunteer with their shelter dogs and cats . The organization also has an active foster / adoption program, which is how Dynamic Athletics and JoyRide became involved. “I became aware of Tails of Courage when a client and foster Katherine Snedaker introduced us to the program by way of an adorable puppy. My dog Bailey is one of their rescue dogs and I could not be happier that I was able to give her a home,” said Bill Gallagher. "Knowing that JoyRide also has an affinity for this organization, it made sense to give back to TOC as a team." Added instructor Alison Vitolo, “I have fostered countless TOC dogs and have adopted 4 of them. Being able to help save them from an otherwise sad outcome, has been one of the joys of my life — in addition to JoyRide!” Kristan Exner, founder of Tails of Courage, "Joyride and Dynamic Athletics are part of the TOC family, both two legged and four." Tails of Courage puppies and kittens that are available for adoption will be on site with adult and youth volunteers. Petvalu will offer puppy / pet starter packs, as well as raffle items. Runner’s Roost, which will soon be moving to Goodwives, will be on site with special sale items, with a portion of the proceeds going toward Tails of Courage. In addition, Chocolate Works (and Andrew Stefanou?) will offer raffle items. In the event of rain, the event will be moved indoors to JoyRide Cycling Studio. About JoyRide Cycling Studio JoyRide Cycling Studio is Fairfield County’s premier fitness boutique dedicated to calorie-torching, endorphin-surged and high-energy indoor cycling. JoyRide's exclusive training method combines core elements of Pilates with high-quality indoor cycling to maximize cardiovascular benefits and burn calories and fat. Because indoor cycling is interval-based -- the intensity varies throughout the class by changing body positions, pedal speed and resistance -- it is one of the most efficient ways to torch calories. Riders can burn between 600-800 calories in a single, 50-minute class. JoyRide instructors expertly choreograph workouts set to heart-pumping and motivating music playlists. JoyRide also offers small group training classes to improve strength and flexibility, including Circuit, mat Pilates, Sculpt, Barre, High-Intensity Interval Training and BOSU. Since co-founders and Westport residents Amy Hochhauser, Rhodie Lorenz and Debbie Katz founded JoyRide more than four years ago, they have witnessed, first-hand, how indoor cycling can transform people’s lives, whether it be improving their health, becoming stronger physically and emotionally or overcoming challenges on and off the bike. The culture of JoyRide is more than fitness: it’s a culture of good health, paying it forward, supporting one another and spreading joy. Since opening, JoyRide has not only become a premiere fitness destination, but it has also become a significant, entrenched part of the community, raising over $500,000 for charitable causes and organizations that are close to riders’ hearts. JoyRide hosts indoor cycling fundraisers and training rides, as well as organizes teams to participate in fundraising events outside of the studio. JoyRide classes are geared toward all ages, genders and fitness levels. Lorenz designed JoyRide's exclusive training method, which combines core elements of Pilates with high-quality indoor cycling to maximize cardiovascular benefits, lower blood pressure, develop muscle tone and reduce body fat.
